Hello all you wonderful, helpful people.
I've allowed myself to be roped into running a one-off game soon, using the Grim Tales rules. The game is set in the same world as the Narnia books (by CS Lewis) although not in the nation of Narnia itself. The characters are all humans from a town that was founded on top of (and created to defend) a rift between worlds, populated generations ago by a group of Narnians and a group of Shogunate Era Japenese, who have now mixed into a homogenious whole.
Only one of the five players has ever played an RPG before (although two others have played Baldurs Gate), so this is very much an experiment to let them get the hang of what's going on. A campaign may follow, but if it does I will be restarting the game with new characters with more detailed backgrounds.
So why am I telling you about it?
Well, basically, I'd like the players to pick from pre-gen characters with a brief background and existing stats but I don't have much time before the game next Friday (it's a real crunch period at work). Ideally I'd like at least 10-15 characters (minimum) for them to choose between.
Does anyone feel like giving a hand generating a batch of interesting 4th level Grim Tales characters?
Stats are elite array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8) plus either +1 to all six stats or +4 to one stat.
I'm mainly looking for interesting, quirky ideas for characters - most of these people are interested in the idea of RPGs through 'Host a Murder Mystery' sessions. So interesting twists are more what I'm looking for than combat monsters. All of the characters should be young, but talented (high stats and I'm assuming the average person is around 2nd level). The plot I have in mind is flexible enough that I can improv in uses of pratically any kind of ability (skill, social, combat) without problems. Three of the five players are women, at least two of whom would not consider playing a male character, so a majority of female pregens would be nice (or pre-gens who could be played as either with just a name change).
