Assasin learning new spellls?

Greetings

How does an assassin gain new spells? I initialy assumed that they gained 2 free spells per level, as wizards do. Since they had such a small spell list, that was sufficient.

However, the spell list for assassins has slowly gotten larger to to several accessories. How can an assassin learn new spells outside of the "2 free spells per level?" It would require a spellcraft roll, but spellcraft is not a class skill, and the asssassin is short on skill points already...

My Fellow Gamers;

The way I see it is that an assassin is primarily a sneaky killer, plain and simple. He isn't terribly trained at casting magic or even understanding it, which is reflected by his skill package; ie no knowledge (magic) and no spell craft. Therefore, unless the assassin spends some cross class skill points on those skills, the only new spells discovered are the ones which come with level advancement. However, I do require the players in my game to pay for training when they advance level and it would be possible for an assassin to ask his trainer to teach him an additional spell, for a fee and if the trainer doesn't mind his understudy being more deadly. Be well.

Thanks for the replies...

I can't help but note that I don't actualy know how assasins gain their spells... the 2 spells a level is a supposition realy.

Personally I wish the spells would just go away. The assasin PrC class really doesnt need its own spells.

Dump assasin spells as well as ranger spells to start and replace with proper skills and I will be happy.

Skill+Magic > Skill

This simple idea is why fighter's use magic weapons, wizards use spells for everything, assassins have spells, characters have wealth guidelines, etc.

Pure skill isn't going to let an assassin move through clear, illuminated, guarded area to hit someone, but the invisibility spell will. That's why assassins learn magic.
