Having recently watched and enjoyed Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (I'm not sure why it took me so long to finally see it, considering that I've seen the series' previous films the week they each hit theaters) and the Starz original series Black Sails, as well as playing Pirates of the Burning Sea, I'm strongly considering buying the pirate-themed Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag for my PS4 (especially since there's already a $10 credit in my PlayStation Store Wallet that I can utilize).
However, I haven't played any of the previous games in the series and likely wouldn't have time to.
Would it still be worth it for me to purchase this game and its Official Strategy Guide or would I be too lost as I'd be far behind in the series? And if so, would the Gold Edition of the game be worth getting? After all, once I commit to a game, I generally end up getting all the DLC's and such for it - is that what the Gold Edition is?
