Assistance with Druid/Shifter

First Post
Just because I can, and I want to play around with the group I am in, I'm creating a halfling Druid/Shifter but would like some assistance on creating him.

So, this is a call for help for all of you min/maxers out there.

He will start off at level 7, soon to advance to level 8. Would like to have started taking Shifter at or by level 7. Was going to originally have him start off as a halfling, but I am open to suggestions otherwise.

Stats are:
Str: 12
Dex: 13
Con: 18
Int: 16
Wis:18 (+1 for 4th level)
Cha: 16

Feel free to move them around or change them as needed.

On a side note, the character is a somewhat of a prankster, often posing as other characters in the party, or past characters which left.

I think that is all but if there is anything else, drop a note.

Thank you all
Akh

**EDIT** removed line Wealth is equal to a 7th level character, or 19000gp, though items is of not a real big concern.
**EDIT** changed stats around and descided to not limit the original race to that of a halfling.

I don't have the books in front of me, so I may be misremembering how this works, but one thing jumps out: I wouldn't maximize Dex, since your character will be acquiring the Dex of its wildshaped form. I'd move the 18 from Dex to Con, the 16 from Con to Cha (mental attributes don't change) and the 13 from Cha to Dex (racially modified to 15).

I would also worry about equipment. At 7th level the best shapes to turn into are largely humanoid, and with Greater Wild Shape you can adapt your armor and weapons to work with the new form.

Being human would give you an extra Feat. But a halfling is still viable. I agree with Dingleberry about shuffling the stats around. take the Extra Wild Shape Feat at 6th. Having him (her) start the Shaper class at seventh works well. He gets one 4th level spell and a good number of Wild Shapes even without the Extra Wild Shape Feat. If you can, find a Necklace of Protection. Most shapes have necks. :) A permanant Barkskin would be cool as well (if cast by a high level druid).

I would love to play such a character. :) Sadly I have no game. :(

I'd definitely keep something good in con, since you don't get extra hp from wildshaping. Maybe try gnome...if you use the 3e stat mods for that race (grr...-2str, +2 con? that is SO WRONG!!!) the con will be a good bonus for hp, the str and small size won't matter much because you'll be shaping a lot, and you'd get the other gnome abilities. This would fit well with your trickster angle, too. You could also try dwarf, maybe, since that bonus to con is nice and you may not need charisma for much, and dwarves get a bunch of neat racial abilities. Halfling would also be a great choice, and I love halflings, but just offering up options. Also, don't put a whole lot in dex or str because of the whole stats changing when you shift thing...might as well not waste stats there when you won't ever make use of them.
