Astral Projection

What does the Astral Plane look like if you enter it through Astral Projection? Is it like the ethereal plane where you can see things that are on the material plane, or is it a featureless void? I've never been quite sure of the difference between the Astral and Ethereal planes. And does your body just collapse? The spell says it enters a state of 'suspended animation' - does that mean it's like Temporal Stasis and your body cannot be harmed while you're astrally projecting, or can I just stick a knife in your body when you're not inside it and kill you? What happens then? And what awareness do you have of the plane you left (such as the material plane) if you're projecting? Do you know if someone's coming up to your body holding a big knife?

Please help, smart rules-knowing-type people.

In canon novels set in 2nd Ed creatures had no awareness of their bodies and could easily be killed while Astrally projecting IIRC.

Since the spell is silent on the issue, I would still use that idea. You can be killed physically, which would then either kill the Astral body, OR since the spell states you are cutting your form loose from your body your Astral self would survive until the end of the spell (i.e. if you can find an new, empty body go for it!)

that's my 2cp
