How about something like this: The clan scouts is the library (which is level 5) but slightly more specific. I was trying to think of a good add-on for a level 9 and thought of Expert Cartography. It adds advantage to specific rolls(see below) but the theatre adds a d6 to rolls and its useable once for a single roll. (wow, theater is really a lot of work for small benefit.) Anyways, don't know about the balance of it. Clan Hostel (Level 9) The MacDonnell Scouts: A small, elite, band of trained scouts, loyal to clan Donnell. They range out, gathering information, scouting the land and reporting on events such as enemies in the area, locations of interest as well as politics and gossip on rivals. (dm can use this to insert plot hooks!) When you issue the Research order to this facility, you commission the facility’s hireling(s) to scout a specific area. The topic a known event or location, a person of significance, a type of creature, or a famous object within 50(100?) miles of the clan holdings. The work takes 7 days. When the scouts return, the hireling obtains up to three accurate pieces of information about the topic that were previously unknown to you and shares this knowledge with you the next time you speak with them. The DM determines what information you learn. (optional: This costs 50gp. They like to eat and drink.) Expert Cartographer: You can command a scout to gather information or scout a location to which you will travel. This could by physically scouting the area, or if that is impossible, finding information from known informants or legends. The scout will then craft a map and description of the area. This work takes 7 days. Once you are given the map, you have advantage on Knowl. Nature and survival checks to find shelter and to not get lost. With the DMs discretion, it could also give hints regarding the terrain or even denizens of the area. After 7 days, the information garnered is too stale to be considered reliable.
