So, as I was saying in our private discussion, please reintroduce yourselves and post a Bastion Turn for your character which should catch them up to the present (so the Bastion Turn takes place over the previous week). You've only "settled down" in the area for about a week - the rest of the skipped time would have been when you did Donnell's "graduation", met the King, got the assignment, travelled to Greyfalls castle, started its repairs and renovations, and that sort of thing. These things are still ongoing, but it's time to get back to adventuring.

Still, you managed to pull of a "Bastion Turn" over the last week (or so).

Anyone need me to post rules or answer questions?

I’ll post something tonight but I’ll be busy until 9 or 10pm. I’ll end my post with the person summoning Donnell to gather people? That could segue well to other people’s posts. Or do you want the opening posts to have happened before the summons?

Hey Team! Excited to get going. Almost ready to post.

Taran -- perhaps you can help me where we landed on the Colonel's Bastion. I know we got a Barracks (5) and a Teleportation Circle (9). I think we also went with Workshop (5) and Training Ground (9), but I also know I wasn't really concerned with either of these, and gave permission for them to be redistributed (e.g. with a smithy if someone else had an armory, or whatever). What exactly does the Colonel have too give orders for? (he asks sheepishly).

This is what I had gathered from our conversations:

Taran
Armory[5]
Smithy[5]
Stables[9]
Theatre [9] - reskinned as a jousting/festival ground

Snarf
Bar/pub [modified 13]
Gaming hall [9]
Library (chapel)[5]
Lab/greenhouse (graveyard)[9]

Tonguez
Barracks [5]
Sanctuary[5]
Greenhouse[9]
Trophy Room[9]

Kobold
Barracks[5]
Arcane Study or Workshop[5]
Teleportation Circle [9]
Training area?[9]

So, you'll note that the Arcane study and Training Area were up in the air.

What is left:
Level 5
Garden
Storehouse

Level 9
Laboratory (snarf is only doing the poisons)
Sacristy
Scriptorium

It's fine to have multiple things because we can each only do one thing. So having, say two libraries lets us do research if the other person needs to do something else, like recruit soldiers. Also, crafting items takes time so having multiple people have one of the magic item creation facilities would allow us to make 2 items of the same type. We could have them as separate rooms/themes based on our characters or have two but skinned as one place with two hirelings doing the work (if Fitz is okay with that). Multiple training areas would allow for multiple trainers since you can only choose one when you choose the facility.

TLDR: Choose whatever you like! Steve Gorak still needs to choose so we're likely to have mostly everything even if we double up.

Variety is spice - I imagine your posts as going over what you've been up to and ending at the point where you're summoned, sure - but it doesn't have to be done in a single post, we can work our way there naturally, riffing off of each-other. If someone comes up with something else, we'll figure it out.

It makes more sense to me that you have one Library (for example) but with two hirelings. Story-wise, we'd have each hireling have a better relationship with one PC than they do with the others. Hopefully for a variety of reasons, unique to each NPC and the PC that they're "working for" rules-wise. Does that make sense?

So -- locked in: Arcane Study, Barracks, Teleportation Circle, Training area.
I recognize it probably makes sene to coordinate the training are: for now we'll just give Athletics proficiency to anyone who exercises there!. Once the armory produces weapons, etc, for those in the barracks that might change. The Colonel uses no weapons himself, of course.

Fitz: Teleportation Circle comes with phone numbers for two places on the Material Plane, determined by the DM. So it's your choice! Places the Colonel might choose:
a. a major city far away (where he knows a good restaurant, but in which he once had his heart broken)
b. an uninhabited mountain peak, prone to lightning storms but far from anyone else (the circle was once used by druids, but that was long ago)
c. underneath the Brigde of Bones, or some site from the Eastern front of the Dao-Demon War to which he has no intention of ever returning.
d. something that might be useful for the campaign...

Regarding the festival I mentioned in my post. It’s seems weird to be having one right at the beginning of the game. Especially, given the danger noted in the first post. Maybe it is to celebrate the reopening of the keep and to raise morale of the local population by having a show of military prowess. The preparations are happening and it will take place at some game appropriate time.

It’s one of those bastions where we have to participate in it. It didn’t seem appropriate to benefit from it as a flashback because it takes 3 weeks unless it was organized to celebrating Donnell’s knighting. Also, while I know the skill check is supposed to be perform, I feel it more appropriate to be some kind of ride check or some kind of check associated with the feat/talent you are using.

Animal handling for jousting, athletics for heavy weight games(like caber toss) etc…

Wonder what your thoughts on it are.

Note: I wrote that IC post late at night and will edit a couple things that I hate.

Double post: can one(or two) of the sets of armour be converted into barding? So 4 sets of regular armour and one set of barding. Whatever type you think appropriate.
