Atlantis: The Second Age Sampler Now Available

Hey there,

I noticed that the pre-order is not quite up yet, but I did see that you have aproduct called High Medieval coming out.

Is this using the omni system as well? same base magic system with new modes & orders and the like?

Atlantis is now available for pre-order through the Morrigan Press website.

High Medieval does in fact use the Omni System but it uses an earlier iteration of the system than Atlantis. High Medieval uses the same basic mechanics but has a class and level character generation and progression system whereas Atlantis is more a skill based system (with a new Callings mechanic). Both games share a similar magic system that will be easily recognizable to players of Talislanta but is implemented differently in each game, reflecting the unique settings by customizing Orders and such for each different game world. You could think of Atlantis as the ancient mythical past of High Medieval. Both take place on our own planet but separated by 10,000+ years.

You've removed the mention of True20 for this product on your website. Since that trademark is owned by Green Ronin, and not open content, that's undserstandable. But I hope this doesn't mean that there will be no conversion guidelines between True20 and the Omni system.
The systems are sooo close that I would do ugly things to have a conversion, so that I for ex. could use Tal's freeform magic with True20 and such...

I'm afraid that is just what that means. We were informed by Green Ronin that we may not incude any mention of True20 in our game without a license and they are not handing out any licenses until after their setting search is complete sometime early next year.

Since we are not prepared to hold off the release of Atlantis until next year, I'm afraid that means no True20 conversion guidelines in the book. That doesn't mean there can't be conversion guidelines for multiple game systems in an unofficial capacity though. Of course, that would be up to the fans because our hands are tied as the publisher.

eh... but couldn't you just supply conversion guidelines to a d20 system that uses damage saves, 3 roles and a lot of flexibillity?

Or is that pushing it too far? (and not help thrilling tales in the setting search.. :uhoh: )

The fan based Atlantis Yahoo Group would be the place for those types of conversion guidelines. We cannot publish them as part of the book with crossing a line.

The Yahoo group will see a section in the Files area where fans can post conversion guidelines. For example, we will be including a failry lare docuemtn with full d20 conversions guidelines, d20 monster stats, etc.

If you are interested in Atlantis: The Second Age check out the Atlantis Yahoo Group.

It is kind of wierd if you ask me. One would think they would want publishers to include conversion rules to True20, so that people woud purchase the True20 core book. When I heard that Green Ronin was licensing that out, i was really surprised. More of a limiting factor on their exposure if you ask me. But they didn't!

The Omni system is a suitable rules lite system, and if you have D20 Talislanta, then conversion to D20 shouldn't be that hard. Then if you are really ambitious, converting to True20 shouldn't be a problem.

Of course, I would think that Omni or D20 would be sufficient.

Woohoo! I just placed my order for the Atlantis Hardcover! I can't wait. While I was at it I cruised over to Drivethru RPG and picked up High Medieval.

Morrigan just made some cool cash!

Looking forwards to both products!
