If a spell caster begins casting a full round spell and an enemy moves into a threatening square afterward, does the enemy get an attack of opportunity against the spell caster?
Murrdox said:Hannibal, just to clarify - a spell that has a casting time requiring a "full round action" means that casting the spell takes the whole round for the Wizard. You seem to be thinking that a "full round" is the same thing as a TURN - which would be the entire initiative sequence.
When a wizard casts a spell that is a full-round action to cast, all it means is that the only thing the wizard can do that round besides cast the spell is take a 5' step. The spell still finishes during the round the wizard began casting it.
(SRD, Magic Overview: Casting Time and Magic Overview: Concentration)A spell that takes 1 full round to cast is a full-round action. It comes into effect just before the beginning of the character's turn in the round after the character began casting the spell. The character then acts normally after the spell is completed ...The interrupting event strikes during spellcasting if it comes between when the character starts and completes a spell (for a spell with a casting time of 1 full round or more)
It is the entire initiative sequence. You begin casting on your initiative and you finish just before your next turn in the following round.Murrdox said:Hannibal, just to clarify - a spell that has a casting time requiring a "full round action" means that casting the spell takes the whole round for the Wizard. Where are getting this idea? This is true for sorcerers or bards who spontaneously cast a 1-action spell with a metamagic feat, not for spells with a 1 round casting time. When a wizard casts a spell that is a full-round action to cast, all it means is that the only thing the wizard can do that round besides cast the spell is take a 5' step.
