I'm really looking forward to seeing what Wizards of the Coast produces with this; it strikes me that the only comparable products for beefing up regular combat are Mike Mearls' <strong><em>Book of Iron Might</em></strong> and <em><strong>Iron Heroes</strong></em>.</p><p></p><p>It's nice to see that Wizards of the Coast is trying to expand the game in more ways than by just adding a new magic system - as much as I do like the <strong><em>Expanded Psionics Handbook</em></strong> and <em><strong>Magic of Incarnum</strong></em>.</p><p></p><p>Conversely, it doesn't seem like <strong><em>Dragons of Faerun</em></strong> will involve the Wyrms of the North articles much, given that neither Ed Greenwood nor Sean Reynolds are listed as authors.</p><p></p><p>It's tied in with the Year of the Dragon theme - along with <strong><em>Races of the Dragon</em></strong>, the Gargantuan and Colossal dragon miniatures, <strong><em>Fantastic Locations: Dragonsdown Grotto</em></strong>, and the <strong><em>War of the Dragon Queen</em></strong> Huge miniatures set.</p><p></p><p>I wonder what else will partake of this theme in the September-December release bracket? Perhaps the oft-requested supplement on Eberron's dragonmarked houses? Considering that we've had three Forgotten Realms supplements confirmed - <strong><em>Power of Faerun</em></strong>, <em><strong>Mysteries of the Moonsea</strong></em>, and <strong><em>Dragons of Faerun</em></strong> - and only two Eberron products - <strong><em>Player's Guide to Eberron</em></strong> and <strong><em>Secrets of Xen'drik</em></strong> - it seems to me like there's a good chance we'll see it towards the end of 2006, unless Eberron just isn't receiving a parity of support.</p><p></p><p>Eberron also has no tie-ins yet announced to the Year of the Dragon theme; assuming it <strong>will</strong> have one, the only choices for topics I can see are the dragonmarked houses or the continent of Argonessen where the dragons actually live.</p><p></p><p>An Eberron tie-in to the theme (or, admittedly, any generic tie-in) would make for a nice neat half-dozen themed books.</p></blockquote><p></p>
