Finished Plague of Shadows (pathfinder) on vacation, about half done with Master of Devils.

Finished Caliban's war. Darn it. Good book. I think I like it better than LW. Have to admit, the vomit zombies just don't really do it for me. They feel like a wink and a nod to current pop culture, which breaks the flow a bit for me.

I finished 'The Devil's Eye' by Jack McDevitt and plunged right into 'Echo', the next book of the series. Every single book so far has been solid and entertaining, apparently you can't go wrong with this guy!

I'm now reading John Grimes: Tramp Captain which has the stories To Keep the Ship, Matilda's Stepchildren, Star Loot, and the Anarch Lords. I keep coming back to A. Bertram Chandler's science fiction work.

I just finished The Man who Counts, again by Poul Anderson. I gotta stop reading Nicholas van Rijn stories >.<

I really dislike the recurring character archetype that Anderson uses as a foil for van Rijn - the capable-but-unimaginative young man who chafes under van Rijn's command, doesn't realize his genius, and ends up bitter and frustrated.

Much prefer the Dominic Flandry novels. Although I think I'd really like van Rijn if not for the one issue I mentioned...

Just finished reading The Killing Moon by N.K. Jemisin and IMO it's the most original fantasy novel I've read all year. Great worldbuilding (influenced by Egyptian culture), intriguing characters and the first novel is a complete story by itself. Won't be surprised to see this, or its sequel, pick up a few major awards next year.

While sifting through the Kindle store I've stumbled over "Rivers of London: PC Grant Book 1" by Ben
Aaronovitch

and so far I am having a really good time reading through it. Aaronovitch does a very fine job to mix magic and arcana with modern times and he has a refreshing, witty and funny style of writing.

Not yet. I purchased the first two books for my Kindle when they were having a cheap sale but haven't got round to reading them yet.

I just recently finished reading The Seal of Karga Kul by Alex Irvine. It was a fun, light read.

I'm about one-third the way through Keith Baker's The City of Towers. I discovered that it had more than a few typos only after I had already bought it; yet, the typos haven't been so bad that I haven't been able to correct them in my head as I read.

I began reading Shadow Prowler by Alexey Pehov recently as well, but I'm trying to stick with City of Towers for now. I'm only three chapters into Shadow Prowler, so I haven't been pulled into the heart of the storyline, yet. It wouldn't be hard for me to start over, if I don't get back to it right away.
