Aura of Justice Questions

I posted the same questions on Paizo boards a few hours ago with no answers, so I thought I would check here as well while I wait...

We're switching some of our 3.5 campaign to pathfinder and our paladin in the group really likes the pathfinder abilities.

Do the recipients of the Aura of Justice retain the smite abilities if they go more than 10 feet away from the Paladin?

Does the paladin also gain the ability to smite from Aura of Justice or just her allies? Does she need to expend another smite for herself?

Yes. A recipient has to be within 10 ft. to receive it but can move whatever distance away after that. Of course, since the recipient must use it before the beginning of the paladin's next turn the recipient isn't likely to go very far from the paladin anyway.

No, two uses are expended and imparted to the paladin's allies instead. The key here is that this is a free action. Since this use is a free action, it means the paladin himself can use an even more powerful aura, spell, ability etc. himself while his friends use smite evil. Pretty cool, yes?

This is how we played it, the concept of an "Aura" implies having to stay within the AoE, but it reads otherwise. Just wanted to make sure others read it the same way.
