Autofire & Thrown Explosives

I think d20M is a very good book, except for arms & armor. That's why I'm trying to fix this shortcoming.

- Autofire: Instead of rolling vs a fixed Def 10 and allowing a Ref sv, make one attack roll and compare it to the Def of every target in a 10ft-10ft area. No Ref save allowed.
-> This takes into consideration the attacker's training in gunfire and the target's armor/Def.

-Thrown Explosives: Roll against Def 10 normally (incl deviation if you miss) but use a Ref DC equal to the attack roll instead of the explosive's DC to take half damage only.
-> This takes into consideration the attacker's training in throwing weapons instead of the weapon in particular.

I wonder why there isn't an Exotic Weapon - Throwing Weapons proficiency feat?

On another thread dealing with autofire, a person trained by the Army to use an M-60 machine gun was told that to actually hit a target was an unexpected bonus. If you want the skill of the user to affect the chance to hit, use single shot.

This also takes into account the Max Dex bonus when wearing armor, which does not apply to Reflex Save (you get your full Dex bonus).

Depending on your POV (do you favor the attacker or the defender?), it could go either way for a one-bullet damage.

I don't see how the accuracy of the thrower is going to make the explosive more devastating other than placing the explosive in the right place (i.e., target an area instead of the person).

The final result, it is the explosive that determines the lethal danger in the area of effect.

See d20 Modern Core Rulebook, page 148, under Thrown Explosives heading.

Of course, if you referring to other weapons like dagger or spear...

The armor's Max Dex bonus only applies to Defense. It does NOT applies to Dexterity checks, Dex-based skill checks, Attack Rolls (ranged or Finesse), nor Reflex save.

While you may gain protection from armor, you may not apply your full Dex bonus to Defense, only the maximum allowed by the armor worn.

Personally, I'd go with Reflex save with full Dex bonus applied, regardless of armor.
