Avatar Question for the Powers That Be

Sorry if this has been asked before (including by me):

I was looking at the avatar selection on these forums and noticed that many of them are larger than the 64x64 dimensions allowed for uploaded avatars. So I wondered, is there a reason uploaded avatars can't be 100x100? You could keep the file size max for them at the 4.9kb or whatever it is. Just wondering if there's a reason not too, since many of the stock avatars already are close to that size.

I once ran the idea of making raising the size to 100x100 for Community Supporters - but it got shot down. I've also considered resizing all the avatars to the same size, but haven't found the time.
