How would you all quantify benders in terms of 3.5 rules?

Are they gestalt monk/warmages with a pared-down spell list?

Or maybe they're just sorcerers with improved unarmed strike. . .

Fighter/Warlock multiclass (with IUS)?

What do you pro converters think? I love this show. If you're not watching it, you should be. I want to incorporate a world very much like Aang's into my prime-material-plane-hopping Planescape game. I can convert Momo, the lemur, and even Apa, the flying bison in a few minutes, but it's the benders I'm unsure of how best to handle.

I (*covers head in shame*) tried this. My idea sucked. Only the air ones are monks, what I would do is look at Elements of Magic by EN Publishing. That seems to fit a bender and they all seem to multiclass.

Air=Monk
Earth=Fighter
Fire=Fighter
Water=Cleric

You could use other things, but that is how I would do it.

Edit: Oh and Sakka would be a warrior, NOT a fighter.:D

Look up MGP's Elementalist book. Has a system that converts spells into spell points, which is then used to create elemental effects on the fly.

With this, maybe they could be multi-class (warrior-ish class)/sorcerer.

Oh! I had an idea some months ago about a skill-based magic system to emulate the magic system of the Harry Potter series...

This might work aout well to simulate bending as well. gabrion, thank you for mentioning the Shugenja. I don't know why I hadn't thought of that. EN Worlders are so smart and helpful.
