Awakend Kittens and the Classes They Play

Tananzel

First Post
Today I come to you with a strange request. A Druid in my current game has decided to awaken a kitten to join our growing army of strange and entertaining followers. We have an adventuring party of lower level npc characters that help run our keep and fight off bandits ect while we are away. The awakened kitten is going to be there newest member and the Druid has asked for my help building him. I'm stuck and don't know what to do with him. We were looking at Rogue because of his small size and massive base hide bonus but idk what to do and could use some help.

Tiny Size Cat HD = 1 base, 2 awakened, 1 class lv 1
Str 3
Dex 15
Con 10
Int 14
Wis 12
Cha 9

Thank you for any help you can provided. It doesn't need to be power gamed just thematically cool and useful for some minor stuff.

Not much point in applying rouge to a creature with fur.

Making it a rogue would make more sense. Cats are pretty much quintessential rogues whether they're awakened or not.

Since lacking hands, I'd recommend a class that doesn't need them for casting, holding weapons/items or manipulating objects with skills. While Rogue is awesome and you can add Sneak Attack damage to that tiny claw attack, here are some other suggestions.

Assuming the books are available to you, I'd recommend the following:

-Sorcerer, select spells that don't require somatic components.
-Warlock (Complete Arcane)
-Dragonfire Adept (Dragon Magic)
-Psion (Expanded Psionics Handbook)

Consider the Fabulous Cats info (It was an April fools gag, but still a official published list of feats and such!) for some goodies.

Also, Races of the Wild has a great feat combo to consider at later levels, Underfoot Combat and Confound the Big Folk (Specifically the Knee Striker maneuver) to make opponents flat-footed. Would be good if you go Rogue.

Rogue! This is a creature with three natural attacks, so that's potentially three sneak attacks per round. After a few levels the Strength penalties to damage won't seem too bad. IIRC cats already get Weapon Finesse as a bonus feat (and if it doesn't, make sure it takes that). By taking Tumble as a class skill, it can avoid the excessive attacks of opportunity it would otherwise generate.

Having said that, the cat won't be any good at disabling traps. Oh well, can't win them all.

My druid PC in a Kingmaker campaign recently awakened a horse... which promptly took levels in barbarian.

After a few levels of whatever class, give him the Wild Talent Feat and let him take the Pyrokineticist PrCl. He can be the Great Furball of Fire...

Wait...no!

Over time, make him a Beguiler/Psion/Elocator...he'll be levitating full time and sneak attacking from impossible angles. Also, make sure he poaches the Expansion power form the PsyWar list: soon, he WILL be boosting his size 2 size classes. That gets him to size M...definitely comperable to actual great predatory cats in size.
