The Gen Con organizers and I are still pounding out some of the finer points, but so people can start making plans, here's what we have in place:

The 2006 Gen Con EN World RPG Awards ceremony will be held Friday, August 11th at the Westin Hotel. The Westin is conveniently located across the street from the Convention Center, and easily accessed via Skywalk.

Doors open to Gen Con attendees 7:30ish for cocktails (cash bar). Doors open a little earlier for the publishers, their guests, and other VIPs. There will be limited seating, so please arrive early. The ceremony runs from 8-10pm, after which we look forward to a DJ spinning tunes until midnight.

We will need a few volunteers to help set up the tables, act as hosts/hostesses, someone to help with the sound, a videographer and photographers. If you would like to help, and don't mind dressing up for the occasion (sound help person needn't dress up too much), please contact Xath. Also, I am looking for crafty decorator types who might like to help with designing creative and tasteful centerpieces for the publishers' tables.

More details

The ENnies will be held at the Grand Ballroom IV at the Westin Hotel.

Starting at 6:30 we'll be serving snacks and drinks (cash bar) and providing games for people to play for our nominated publishers, their guests*, and select VIPs. Doors open at 7:30 to everyone else.

The ceremony is anticipated to run 2 hours, starting at 8pm, after which a dj we all know and love (just have to wait for the powers that be to let him off his leash before we can advertise the name) will be spinning tunes for celebrants and fandom until midnight.

Requested (but not mandatory) dress code is business casual to semi-formal.

*Don't forget to watch for the Dream Date Auctions starting soon!

What sound support do you need, I've been running A/V for live concerts and events for about 15 years semi-professionally/professionally and have almost as many years as life as an amature. If you still need the help I should be available. Please send me details.

What this?

As part of our fund raising efforts, nominated publishers offered a chance to sit with them at their table or to represent/impersonate them at the awards. These were nicknamed the Fanboy/Girl Dream Date Auctions. Oh yeah, and the publishers gave away swag, too.

Last year Necromancer Games brought in over $350 from one bidder who was taken out to dinner, given the Wilderlands Box Set, and taken to the White Wolf party where he got incredibly drunk.
Paizo gave away autographed swag and a year's subscription to Dungeon & Dragon magazines, and raised $180ish from their dream date auction.
diaglo bought two seats at the Malhavoc table for $200 then gave them away.
We had someone impersonate parent's basement games, too.

This year not only do the Dream Date winners get to sit with their fave publisher, they also get invited to the exclusive VIP reception (aka Denise's Play Party) before the Awards.
Because there's designated seating and we put the publishers at the front (so they don't have to spend too long working their way up to the stage), it's a great way for fandom to hang out in the middle of the action, amidst a bunch of pros, and walk away with some cool loot... oh yeah, and of course, to help support the Awards!
