B&W or Color?

Same product, same price but one is color and the other is B&W - which do you choose?

I voted 'color', but that's only because the poll puts everything else as equal. If there were even a dollar difference in cost, I'd go for the B&W. I really don't see color to be anything worth paying for.

My main concern is that the artwork is used sparingly and is understated. I'm buying a rulebook, not a coffe-table art book. Art is almost optional.

I hear from many people that full color in a book, even illustrations, is a waste and that they are paying for text! They want little 7-8 font sized characters that are single spaced and read more like some ancient tome than a regular book.

To them I say, no.

Perhaps I'm just too blinded by slick color and gloss, but when I see a book like the Bestiary of Krynn, Denizens of Avandu or even the Book of Exalted Deeds, I enjoy it. The full color pages in several Fantasy Flight books are a good medium, providing slick, full color pages, while haivng the majority of the book in black and white.

Impossible to answer for me. Why? Because the poll doesn't specify if it's print product or PDF/ebook.

So, I would answer color for print product (always!) and black and white for PDF.

Color or B&W, I could really care less. I voted color, but that would only be if they're the same book, same price just one in color and one is not. Heck I don't really care if it even has pictures. heheh.

PDF or Print - doesn't matter... Imagine whichever you'd like or two of the same. Same product, same price - color vs. b&W. ;)

But it does a Print product most people would probably prefer in colour if it makes no difference in price.

A PDF most people prefer limited use of colour or at least a print friendly B&W version as printing out a PDF in colour is very expensive. So directly effects the price.

Ok - say you a PDF and you got a color and a B&W version. :P

My answer entirely depends on the product:

PDF for downloading & printing - B&W by a mile, with as little ink consuming artwork as possible (i.e. open line art preferred over heavy solids like greys or blacks)

Published book or manual - color
