Baatorian Green Steel

So... 2000 gp for increased hardness, hit points, and antimagic use (as in LotIF), or +2 damage (or so) in all conditions that stacks with enhancement bonuses, along with the hardness & hit points?

Let's base our concept of balance on 2E, shall we?

Heh, you're right - I didn't take into account the increased hardness and hit points :o. I was just comparing it against a MW weapon which gives a +1 enhancement bonus to hit for just 300gp. I read somewhere that bonuses to hit are more "valuable" than bonuses to damage because bonuses to hit come into play more often. If you don't even hit in the first place, the damage bonus is irrelevant.

Just add +1 to the threat range, whatever the original threat range was ?
Give a +1 "keen" bonus to confirm the crit ?

What was the flavor text of the greensteel ?

+1 to the threat range sounds good, provided it doesn't multiply with Improved Critical or the Keen enhancement. A keen +1 baatorian green steel scimitar wielded by someone with Improved Critical (Scimitar) would thus threaten on an 11-20. [18-20 (base), 15-17 (Improved Critical), 12-14 (keen), 11 (baatorian green steel).

For weapons that threaten a critical only on a 20, a +1 to threat range is the equivalent of Improved Critical or keen. So for axes, picks, spears, scythes, etc., being made of Baatorian green steel would be a (too) cheap equivalent of keen. Since those weapons tend to have higher critical damage multipliers, too, it be a really good deal.

Yeah, hook me up with a keen Baatorian green steel scythe or pick; tack on Improved Critical, maybe go Weapon Master with it -- what are we talking, 15-20 threat range, x4 damage?

Hey, I just realized (d'oh!) -- the Arms & Equipment book will probably have the 3.5e materials listed. Cool.

There's no way I'd let them stack.
