BAB over 20?s

Out of curiosity, exactly why is the Solar given exception to the 4 Attack/Rnd limit? Besides being a Solar.

Lotsa monsters attack more than 4 times per round. Dragons, for example, bite / claw / claw / tail / wing / wing or something like that. Sea monsters with 8+ tentacles.

Humans wielding swords and the like are limited to 4 attacks per round.

That's because those monsters have multiple limbs/natural weapons/appendages/etc to attack with.

That's because they have fewer limbs. Ironically enough, the Solar has the same number of limbs as a human, yet their number of attacks goes completely against he 4 attack limit due to a creature's BAB. It's quite the puzzle. :)

Not really. The MM came out years before the ELH. They didn't need to worry about limiting the number of attacks from BAB when the MM was written.

NAh- just that the MM was produced before they had the epic level rules in place and before deciding to limit attacks to 4. Look at Imix in the RttToEE. He gets six attacks per round with his sword. Again, printed before the epic level rules were in stone.

I believe that D&DG (Might be ELH) says that BAB derived from monster HD is all BAB and not EAB. That is a 30 HD outsider has a BAB of 30 and not a BAB of 20 with a EAB of 5. However even with a BAB of 30 you cannot have more than 4 attacks(5 for monk).

Right. A 60 HD outsider has a BAB of 60. An 80 HD outsider has a BAB of 80. But neither gets more than four attacks per round.

Like kreynolds said above. Dragons, for example, get multiple attacks per round because they are attacking with more than one limb (or whatever).

Multiple limbs work differently than attacking with weapons.

Look at the Hecatoncheires in the ELH. It has 100 arms and wields 100 greatswords. It gets 100 attacks per round (one per arm). Its attack bonus is +71 melee. If it choose to forego all attacks and attack with a single limb, it could do so, but it would receive no more than 4 attacks with that weapon.

I'm sure that solars were errata'ed to have only 4 attacks. But I can't find it anymore. Same with harm and the saving throw. I really think I start to imagine things.
