Bacardi Breezer is to extend its # of flavours w/ launch of new “Half Sugar” range
Half Sugar hits the on-trade following the success of Bacardi Breezer Diet Lemon which was launched in July 2003 and has now established itself as the fastest growing RTD in the on-trade, according to AC Nielsen.
This came after Breezer had been flagging in the RTD market thanks to the strong performance of rival Smirnoff Ice.
However, Bacardi changed the “diet” labelling after running into problems with the regulators. The Portman Group is believed to be looking into claims that calling the drink “diet” on its packaging is misleading.
The flavours in the new range are Refreshing Raspberry, Crisp Apple and Zesty Lemon. Bacardi hopes they will be stocked alongside the core Breezer range of Orange, Watermelon, Pineapple, Lime and Cranberry.
The launch will be supported by a £2.5m marketing and advertising campaign.
