BACK button not working on boards ?

Davelozzi

Explorer
Lately, I've noticed that I often can't use the 'BACK' button on my browser while here at the boards. I never used to have that problem. I can still navigate around by always just clicking on the direct link for the page or forum, but I do prefer using 'BACK' when I can.

Has anyone else had this problem and/or know a solution?

I should mention that I've recently started using Mozilla Firefox as a browser instead of the old version of Mozilla that I was using (1.6 maybe?). I'm not sure if the problem started right when I switched or not.

Thanks!

I'd suggest not using Firefox. It's not a fully-functioning browser, and is bound to have problems. In fact, that's one of the most common causes of peoples' problems round here - people using Firefox!

Mozilla even advise you on their website that you shouldn't use Firefox as your primary browser. :)

Our boards are set to turn off caching. When Firefox is dealing with any page like that it disables it's back button for some reason. We can't turn caching back on for the boards - it would really mess with everyone's ability to view the pages in a timely fashion.

That is only partially correct, but I agree fully. As with all beta software, only use it if you are really, really sure what you are doing. Unfortunately due to the simple installation program people who shouldn't use the browser (for example, those who are not aware what version 0.x means, or for that reason can configure the program correctly) has installed it thinking it works exactly as Internet Explorer. This is really irritating because lately the development forum has been flooded with bug reports that are not in fact bugs but problems with he behind the keyboard. ;)

Firefox is a Technology Preview.
