Is this a balanced 1st level spell?

All comments welcome.

Winters Protection
Abjuration (Cold)
Level: Cleric 1, Druid 1
Components: V,M, S
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
Target: 1 creature touched
Duration: 1rd/level

Winters Protection creates a thin layer of ice around a creature touched. The ice protects the creature from physical attacks. The layer of ice provides DR 1/bludgeoning to the spell’s recipient. Any magical fire attack immediately ends the spell.

Reminds me of what they do to oranges when the weather gets cold in spring.

I personally think it could be level 0. DR 1/type is pretty insignificant and negatable.

I guess a half a handful of snow or ice would serve as the material component, eh? And you didn't specify whetehr that target of the spell can take physical actions while under the effect of the spell.

I'd make it druid only, not for clerics. And apart from that it seems OK. Compare it with the 1st level psionic power Biofeedback for example.

I like the material componet part....

The layer of ice would not inhibit the character at all.

For those of you like me who don't know what BioFeedback is....

Biofeedback
Psychometabolism
Level: Psion/wilder 2, psychic warrior 1
Display: Material and visual
Manifesting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Personal
Target: You
Duration: 1 min./level (D)
Power Points: Psion/wilder 3, psychic warrior 1
You can toughen your body against wounds, lessening their impact. During the duration of this power, you gain damage reduction 2/–.
Augment: For every 3 additional power points you spend, your damage reduction increases by 1.

What I am looking to do is have a defensive type spell to replace the protection from "x" spells for one of my clerics.

Is this spell balanced with protection from evil? WOuld DR 2/bludgeoning be okay? Jeepers..what about 3/bludgeoning?
