bang for oyur buck- riding dog

i just noticed that riding dogs only cost 150 gp each, considering it says that they are brave in combat like a warhorse i am assuming they can be used like a dog pack in war.

for the cost of a single potion fo "Tongues" you can get a pack of 5 dogs, 13 hp each and +8 on wilderness lore for tracking.

that is also 5 more sets of eyes and ears with pretty good spot and listen checks and these suckers can swim. that may make a water crossing or 2 easier

i am thinking it is hard to get more bang for the buck.

At 13hp a piece, they won't live long (i'll assume they have crappy AC) when the party will start encountering CR 5 creatures... But nevertheless, having a dog companion can't be a bad thing (especially when you don't have to pick up doodoo).
