Banning called creatures

Hi, like many 2E players, I prefer to have called demons/angels banned back to the planes when vanquished on the material plane (along with their special equipment).

Have some of you found some kind of alternate rewards for defeating those foes? (Not including the obvious in-game rewards).

Thanks.

I never gave it much thought, but I have always been doing the old style banning back to the planes for outsiders who are slain on the prime (even if they are not 'summoned', and are on the prime in a relatively permanent basis). I have never bothered to keep track of the lesser outsiders, but I guess the same rules could apply them. The only way to kill them is to travel to the home plane, and defeat them there.

Called outsiders are killed on prime in 3.X for the same reason that drow equipement no longer suffer from the light -> "When you kick some butts, you deserve some loot".

When you ban them (and the equipement is banned too), and you want to follow the 3.x design, you should give another reward for defeating those foes.

Is my point clear ?

Outsiders give 50% more experience points? Adjust as necessary of course.

I tought of a simple fix today, maybe just not factoring the listed equipement (like the Balor's vorpal sword) in the appropriate treasure, and ruling that all non default(listed) equipement is not banned. e.g. a Balor would leave on the Material Plane the Ring of Protection he's wearing but not his Vorpal Sword.

Sounds to me like a great place to introduce the levin rules from Green Ronin's Advanced Gamemaster's Guide. The only reward better than magical items is stuff that lets you make your own magical items, and I think residue left behind by a discorporated outsider is a perfectly logical source of such a substance.
