I'm glad that we offer teachers a discount because they or woefully underpaid (especially here in Louisiana) and underappreciated. :( Teachers need all the help we can give them.

I agree, over half my family is in education in one way or another, a number as teachers. In Miami, they also deal with the Teachers Union openly stealing from the teachers as well. Three cheers for teachers, those whom get us to read and enjoy stuff like D&D! :)

This is as good a thread to mention it, as anywhere else.

As of a year or two ago, there was a (USA) tax exemption/deduction (not sure which) for school supplies given to teachers. Thus, if they buy school supplies for their students, they could write a portion of them off.

I'm not sure what the limit was, when or if it ended, or anything else. It's just something I remember, something that all of you teachers might want to check out...

Teachers have told me that it is $250 a semester. I'm guessing that's off their Federal taxes, I'm not sure about State taxes.

It's a $250 federal income tax deduction. Most of the staff I know spends at least twice that out of their own pockets to cover the gap between what materials the school provides and what materials are actually necessary to teach the students.

These two bookstores offer 20% discounts to teachers. AND THE DISCOUNT WORKS ON D&D STUFF!

I nearly kissed the kid behind the counter when I realized it.

I don't know how many of you are teachers, I know pogre is, but I seemed to remember there was a fair amount.

If this has been brought up before please forgive me but I am very excited!

I have the friend discount, which is 30% (40% during Christmas) when I ask one of my B&N friends to get a book for me. :)

Proclaiming that discount that loudly could mean the end of your discount, as well as yuour friends discount, as well as your friends job...

I've mentioned this on MANY Mortality Radio shows, but, Waldenbooks, a division of Borders, also gives out a corporate discount plan, called the WISE discount, which is also 20%.

I walked in with my occupational license, and was signed up in about 5 mins.

You might want to look into IF Borders offers the same type of discount.
