Basing PC's on a film.

First Post
We're starting a new campaign in a few nights time, D&D 3.5, and our DM has asked us to base our characters around famous films and characters etc. He says this will give our characters a better sense of initial bonding and so forth, as we'll know the direction that each other are going, and already have a feel for personalities before we even start the first session.

Obvious choices are Robin Hood, Conan, Maximus etc... but ever since I was little I always thought the one swordsman that takes 1st prize is Willow's Mad Mardigan.

Can anyone who's seen Willow please give me a few suggestions of how to form a character based on Mad Mardigan? Any official WotC stuff is eligible, also any MGP books.

Cheers all!

Good Str, Dex, and Cha, average to good Con, average Int, low Wis, TWF, Improved Feint.
I'd probably make him a Rogue/Fighter, or Rogue/Ranger.

I had a character based on Sorsha from Willow once. :D

Mad Mardigan? Barbarian. ;) He's mad and he needs all those jump and balance and other skillpoints.

He needs a good Charisma cause he's somehow famous.

Barbarian Rogue would do it for me. TWF... yeah. But give him a very low Wisdom. I'd even think about including something like a Madness rating (used in some Kalamarbooks and some other stuff IIRC). You get a penalty to Wisdom for everything but in that case spellcasting, where the same penalty is applied as bonus... For Mad Mardigan perhaps apply a penalty to Wisdom for Will saves and other stuff and a bonus to everything like Listen, Spot ... he's paranoid after all.

I don't remember too many tricky things he did in the movie during battles. Perhaps something like Flick of the Wrist would fit.

One true swordsman?

"Hello"
"My name is Inigo Montoya"
"You killed my father"
"Prepare to die"

How about Spock as a Gladiator in "Bread and Circuses" (the Roman society Kirk, Spock and McCoy get trapped in).

He could wield that gladius just fine... Although the "non violence" thing would be a setback.

"I do not want to hurt you"

Heh. :D

Get him going in Pacifist from the BoED, get him a weapon of Mercy and you're set :D
