Battle Acuity

First Post
A player of mine wants to play a monk, and we both feel that the ranger-> monk conversion is the way to go (with a few changes). I've started homebrewing certain feats and extra powers to give it some more monk flavor. Ill post more later. Tell me what you think.

Battle Acuity

Prerequisites: Wisdom 13

Benefit: When wearing light or no armor, you may add your Wisdom bonus to your armor class. If you take this feat you may no longer apply your Intelligence or Dexterity bonus to your armor class when wearing light armor.

I'd make the following changes:

Unarmed Combat

Prerequisites: Strength 13, Constitution 13.

Benefit: Raise unarmed combat damage to 1d8. This rises to 2d8 at 11th-level and 3d8 at 21st-level.

Mind & Body

Prerequisites: Unarmed Combat, Wisdom 13.

Benefit: Gain your Wisdom bonus to AC when wearing no armour.

Caveat: I haven't seen the ranger to monk comversion set up...

Switch out Prime Shot for a +2 Proficiency bonus when fighting Unarmed or with Improvised Weapons (represents some styles of martial arts) and I think that solves that.

Does absolutely nothing to help wiht the lack of magical attacks. But there are other fixes.... like having the monk "swear off" magic weapons and then just giving them the +1 at 3rd and every 5 thereafter. Maybe make this a feat too, like "Vow of Poverty" or something.

Body & Soul

Prerequisites: Unarmed Combat, Mind & Body, Wisdom 13.

Benefit: +1 bonus to hit with unarmed attacks. Rises to +2 at 6th-level, +3 at 11th-level, +4 at 16th-level, +5 at 21st-level and +6 at 26th-level.
