Battle Mats

Also, some products we take for granted in the states are not sold in Poland (or sometimes Europe). For example, a friend begged me to bring her some 3-holed paper from the states. You can buy a hole punch here and make your own, but they don't sell pre-holed paper here, anywhere.

I don't know about Poland but I think pre-holed paper is quite common in the rest of Europe (it certainly is in Belgium) but we only use 2 holes (more or less near the center of the page). Just a different system I guess. Also, all the binders (not sure if that's the correct word ) only contain two metal rails. In the past I had some problems with things like the old 2nd edition monster manuals on loose sheets. They didn't fit in 'normal' (for me at least ;) ) binders.

always make my own

Have just made one from paper squares printed out (i use the fierydragon squares as they are a tad bigger) and just cover in 'tacky back' or whatever is called elsewhere. I have a mat which now measures 40 squares by 40 squares (200ft x 200ft), so it is useful for mounted combat. It rolls up ok and flattens ok and i use dry wipe markers. Will put hexes on the rear side at some point

cost 2UKP for the tacky back and 20 sheets of A4 paper and printer ink. It is very light as well.

Plus if it gets stained or touched by inappropriate marker all i have done is wasted a few quid and 1 hour of time

That does indeed sound like the best product so far...

How do the fold creases hold up after several uses? is there a chance that the whole thing will fall apart?

AR
So far (admittedly, only a couple of weeks) the creases have presented to problem whatsoever. Once I got mine home, I folded it backwards, opposite the way all the creases had been set in the packaging, and then let it lay flat on the table for maybe 10 minutes. As of this moment, it's totally flat, without a single noticeable ridge on the surface.

I suppose the creases could wear out after repeated use, but if you game once a week, you're only folding and unfolding the thing 52 times in a year - 104 folds, total. And that, of course, assumes you can't just leave it out between game sessions (I know I can). In any case, 100 folds over the course of an entire year does not seem likely to stress the laminate - and even if it does, the thing only cost 10 bucks.

Those look pretty good. Due to fellow gamer recommendations, I think I'll give them a shot (going to order 2 and see how well they work together). I also like to reward people being inventive and entreupenuerial (sp?/is that a word?).

The grid on the flipmat does not go all the way to the edge. There is a one inch border, so it's easy to "eyeball" if you want to put two maps together to make one big map.

And of course entreupenuerial is a word, but it's spelled entrepreneurial (I had to check at dictionary.com).
