Battlemage. What would you do?

Boom

1) Wilder with emphasis on blowing &%^$ up.
2) Psion (kineticist)
3) Wizard (diviner) with emphasis on Scry and Fry. If your DM is foolish enough to allow Arcane Thesis to work as it seems to imply it does (+2 CL, -1 level to spell *per* metamagic feat applied... rather than the much more sensible +2 CL, -1 level to spell for the first metamagic feat applied)... then this goes to the top of the list.
4) Warmage
5) Battlesorc

Note that the two psionic classes can wear any type of armor without worry of screwing up thier powers. A one level dip into somethnig that gives Heavy Armor prof might be worth it. Or just be a Warforged with Adamantine Body as your 1st lvl feat.

My preferred Battle Mage builds are

Battle Sorcerer with Bloodline feat.

This gives you a progression that is closer to a standard sorcerer-- a new spell level at 4, 6, etc. Best Races -- Human (bonus feat and skills) Elf (extra martial weapons) or Dwarf (War Axe as your prime weapon among other neat things)


If you want different try Swashbuckler 3, Psion 7, Slayer 10 with Spiked Chain, Weapon Casting and -- 16 manifester levels Int to damage -- free weapon finesse for your chain and bab of 16. This is the only no 9th level manifester version I use and I like it simply because its funky. This needs to be Human or Half Elf or Elan.


Psion 8 Slayer 10 Fighter 2

16 bab 17 manifester levels 2 psionic bonus feats, 2 combat bonus feats

optionally a BAB +15 18 Manifester level version with Fighter 1 Psion 9 instead

needs to be Human, Half Elf, Elan, Dwarf, Druegar (the fighter 1 version can do this with 17 manifester levels)

another Option is Slayer 9 Psion 10 Fighter 1 -- this trades the slayer cap ability for a Psion Feat.




Classic Arcanist /Battler

Fighter 1 with Dragon 355 Variant that reduces ASF and Increases move
Wizard 8 Spellsword 1 Eldritch Knight 10

Human is best here --

18 caster levels 16 BAB and No ASF and full move in mithril fullplate,

If you want a wee more versitility at the cost if some arcane power drop 3 levels of Eldritch Knight for either Human or Elf paragon -- this gets you 15 BAB and 17 caster levels but nets an ability increase and some neat abilities


A scouting version of the Battle Mage

Ranger (variant with swift movement instead of weapon style and trap sense instead of tracking from Dungeon Scape) 2

Eldritch Knight 10

Wizard 8

This is best as a Human although Half Elf can be used as well

Your feats

Tracking
Able Learner (too keep certain skills high)

This is a swift (40+ magic) trap finding tracker with bab of 16 and 17 caster levels. You are a bit fragile so con can help you out but you are very versitile

Yep, the usual suspects responded. Myself included of course. Though I do want to try out the Armored Savant from 355 along with Spellsword/Eldritch Knight and see how that works out.

Until then...Battlesorcerer it is.
