Battlestar Galactica Returns! Who's excited!?

Also - it's a television show. I can be entertained without worrying about technological inaccuracies. I watch for cool space-battles, drama, and humor - all of which BSG do quite well (at least, I think so).

Battlestar Galactica! WHOOOO!

We will have moved into our new apartment the day before season 2 starts - and you best bet that we will be setting aside our unpacking duties to bask in the sweet, sweet glory that is BSG. (and there will be snacks! mmmmm.... snacks)

I enjoy the show tremendously.
I understand the need to look past inconsistencies to just enjoy it.

But I was having a problem understanding the technology "gap" (and it was hampering my enjoyment), and figured someone here could provide an explanation. I can buy WingsandSword's explanation, so I'm done.
