The Three New Battlezoo Secret Tomes for Shadowdark! kickstarter launched yesterday and, at over $140,000, has become the largest opening day ever for a Roll for Combat crowdfunding campaign!
The three hardcover books offer over 400 new monsters adapted for use in Shadowdark (by yours truly!) from Roll for Combat's popular Battlezoo Bestiary series.
The project also includes:
- 12 new classes
- A monster parts system
- 15 one-shot adventures
- A really spectacular deluxe edition
All backers of the $59 tier and up are also invited to participate in a Dungeon Design Contest for $500 and inclusion in the project. Full rules can be found here, but you'll be happy to know that authors who are not selected as winners retain the rights to their materials.
Finally, the campaign has been used as a platform to announce that Professor Dungeon Master's Deathbringer RPG is being developed for use with Shadowdark!
Every backer of the Three New Battlezoo Secret Tomes for Shadowdark campaign will be invited to playtest Deathbringer before its own Kickstarter campaign launches in 2026.
