Bazaar of the Bizarre- New Format

So... I don't think I saw anyone mention this article?

They switched to a new "Flavor Heavy" format... What did everyone think?

Dwarf Flavored!

I think it's kind of interesting- A way to just plop a magic item shop into the campaign ready to go.

It was OK. Got no problems with it. For common items there isn't a lot of fluff really though. I think it would be a more interesting format for rare or even uncommon items. Seems to me there's no real downside to having extra fluff in Dragon articles though.

I thought the article was okay. My main criticism of it is the dwarf's dialogue didn't read, well, "dwarfy." Perhaps if the text was written in a faux Scottish accent, with a few more "lads" and spelling going as "goin'"? That might make it have a little more personality for me.

Overall, I like the direction. The more flavor text, the better in my book. The mechanics work for me -- I'm looking for in-world elements I can use to set the scene, put the players in the context of the milieu. I hope to see more articles like this -- and I really hope they use the new flavor paragraph before each power entry in Essentials with monsters to explain any non-self-explanatory monster powers (i.e., what they look, sound, feel like, etc.).
