BBEG turning divine spell casters

LordOfBlah

First Post
I recently started a new campain as a cleric. (normally I DM). Well we ran into a Big Bad Evil Guy who had some sort of Prestige class on him that gave him a check to turn divine spell casters so me and my druid companion could not cast spells. Has anyone heard of this, possibly in a magazine or something? Also can you somehow "unturn" or counter the effect? I think its like a spin off of a black guard type PC.

Thanks

Corrupter. It's a base class - the NE answer to the Paladin. It's in Dragon Magazine #312.

I can tell you what to you can do against it, if you really want to learn it this way rather than in-game:

If he attacks you or you have atonement cast on you, the effect ends. Otherwise it lasts for 1 minute or 24 hours, depending on whether his level is at least twice as high as yours. Oh, and his allies can attack you without negating the effect.

Never heard of it, not once. And a lot of whacky stuff has floated past me while running the Exodus, so ... my verdict is, your DM cooked up somethng custom. While it's remotely possible I've missed soemthing ... I'd have to say, it's definitely not from a WOTC-published source.

It sounds home-baked to me ... and baked is about what I'd call it. If any player of mine tried to suggest a custom PrC that had an ability like that, all they'd get form me is laughter.

EDIT: What? "Corrupter", you say ... ?

Well, I still call it BAKED, with a capital B. Impede spellcasting, yes ... utterly prevent it? Doing that should take a darn sight more than just a turn check!

Thanks pax. Thats what I though too. Another grip is that when we killed him and still had alot of his baddies left to fight the effect didn't wear off. :(
