Why.....why does the general public take every opportunity to make gamers look stupid?

For the same reason that nonpowergamers often take reactionary attitudes towards powergaming: they don't understand, and they don't want to have to understand, but the irrational fear that they are missing something important weighs upon them. :)

I'm never sure though....I keep hearing how Jessica Simpson is supposed to be actually smart, and that the "dumb blonde" routine is an act. But I can't for the life of me understand why someone would pretend to be stupid, or take pride in such. Leaving me wondering whether the "being dumb" is a lie, or whether "being dumb is just an act" is a lie.

Politics. In America, smart politicians are often not popular, and vice versa. :p

Doesn't the US Cellular commercial make you laugh?

No, it makes me confused.

a) The joke really can't be 'got' unless you are a gamer, but its made at gamer's expense (you are apparantly supposed to be laughing at, not with, gamers).
b) The joke could really only be writen by a gamer.
c) Internally to the commercial, the person playing the joke on the 'dorks' would have to have been a gamer to play the joke. But, this essentially destroys the joke. If the joke teller meant to make fun of the 'dorks', then the joke is also at his expense. If the joke teller did not mean to make fun of the dorks, and was truly ignorant, then he's the butt of the joke again. But this later case is basically impossible, because you have to know what 'Dungeon Masters' and 'levels' are which reveals you aren't ignorant enough to not be condemned as a geek with the rest.

Did it make anyone laugh?

I am friends with Britney from that season of BatG. Most of the beauties and geeks end up becoming really good friends and actually break down a lot of stereotypes and barriers. If you stayed to watch more, you'd have noticed that one guy's profession was "Shines Lasers at Monkeys" or something.

It's kind of rude to imply that because not all the women are the smartest knives in the drawer that they're drug addicts or a tramp. The producers poke fun at each camps, and in the end I think they make the women out to be much worse than the men. You'll notice they actually take every chance to make the women look stupid, and the guys like...geeks.

Anyway, from what I can tell Karl is a great guy, though I haven't had a chance to meet him. (Though Joe from that season did try his new found self-esteem out by hitting on my girlfriend. What a jerk.)

I've known many a guy who has a strong "thing" for girls in glasses. I'm sure you can find...um...examples on Teh Intrywebs.
I found one called Naughty Bookworms. I hope those girls are all real nerds, otherwise that website is a lie.

Men don't make passes at girls who wear glasses.

I assume that's a joke. I've known many brilliant, and beautiful women who wore glasses, and yes, been interested in several of them. Eyewear has never really been a factor in the attractiveness of women among any friends I've spoken with. I've known women who were picky about men with glasses....but never the other way around.
