Nonsense.

You forget we're dealing with a master of redneck engineering. Dude'll take that trailer hitch and fix that bad boy up, good as new. :)

I'm sorry but I simply do not see the humour in this.

basically, this guy, in a supreme act of ignorance decided to destroy a small colony of bees for no reason whatsoever other than it would be "cool". A small amount of effort would have revealed one of two things. the bees were simply leaving the nest briefly in order to cool down or that was a proto colony on its way from the primary nest to find new digs.

If the bees were causing a problem then I could understand a humane removal or disposal but torching them like that was pointless.

So if you lived in a place where a hive of bees lived in the wall, you wouldn't do anything about it? I admit that I wouldn't do quite what they did, but I for sure would be getting rid of them even if they hadn't actually done anything to me. Living that close to that many bees would freak the heck out of me.

I grew up with bee hives, wasp and hornet nests, and all other manner of stinging insects. Most of the time, I never had a problem as they would only become aggressive if the nest was threatened. There was only one case where it was necessary to destroy a nest. A large colony of hornets had built a nest under our front step. Every time we would go outside the nest was disturbed and the hornets would swarm. that nest was disposed of. We smoked it out and then removed it. no burning necessary.

My problem with this is not that the bees were killed. having a nest inside a house can be a problem. my problem was that this yahoo decided the best way to deal with the problem was with fire. and frankly, he didn't even deal with the problem. he didn't do anything about the nest in the wall. he just lit a bunch of bees on fire that weren't doing anything.
