Beguiler Resources?

Is anyone aware of any material-- 3.5 books, Dragon magazine, anything-- that expands on the Beguiler class? I'm looking for ACFs to replace Trapfinding, Armored Casting, and possibly even Surprise Casting.

So far, the only advice I've gotten is to consider Rogue ACFs for Trapfinding and the Warmage's Eclectic Learning for Advanced Learning.

Roll gnome. Become Shadowcraft Mage. Profit. Whether you'd be able to cast Miracle at will is up for a bit of debate.. you might be able to slip it past your DM. =)

PHB II is a 2006 book, very few 3.5 stuff got published AFTER that...up until 2007.

If i'm not mistaken, only Comp. Mage, Comp. Scoundrel and Rules Comp, got out after PHB II.

So... no luck with books. Dragon Mag. might have something so focus on those between 2006-2008 (2007 actually...). If you are lucky you might bump into something.

EDIT: PHB II = MAY 2006 (... MM5 is another book that got out after that)

In all seriousness, just pursuing Beguiler from level 1-20 will net you one of the most balanced and enjoyable classes in the game.

Your greatest weakness is against Undead and Constructs, but even there you can rely on wands and many of the debuffing spells you have (See Solid Fog, Phantom battle) as well as a number of buffs (such as the ubiquitous haste).

Further, because of your 'advanced learning' you can pick up various shadow evocation and conjuration spells.

Not sure if I'm answering the letter of your question, but hopefully the spirit of it.

I encourage the Mother Cyst feat from Libris Mortis for any "creative expansion of casting ability" builds.

This will give you a number of damage dealing spells, a sweet Scry spell, some make undead spells, a massive heroic stat boosting spell, 2 dominate spells and a "I've eradicated your soul from existance" spell. All really good with the Beguiler, as it's a "spontaniously cast from any spells I know" class.

The only problem is that those spells are kinda sorta evil, so it may affect your RPing & alignment, if those are important to you. Or, after becoming familiar with what they do, you can choose to use the spells selectively, a whole "Using evil things for a good purpose" if you can justify it to your DM and fellow players.

Arcane Disciple feat from Complete Divine is another great way to expand your spell list as well, adding divine spells to your arcane options.

As I said, not sure if this is what you're asking for, but there you go.

Not directly that I know of, no. Very few of the non-core base classes got alternate class features or spell list expansions.

Various PrC's and feats can do so, but they're going to be general arcane, not beguiler-specific. The Bloodline feats from Dragon Compendium, Mother Cyst from Libris Mortis, Mage of the Arcane order from Complete Arcane, Arcane Disciple from Complete Divine, Rainbow Servant from Complete Divine (or was it Complete Arcane?) and so on will apply, though.

A Beguiler with, say... Penumbra Bloodline, Mother Cyst, and Arcane Disciple(Travel) has a rather large number of options.
