Being a Judge could potentially disrupt...

Adventurer
well, I'll probably be starting as a player in a Warhmamer campaign come this Friday.

Thinking of it, I'm in two other fairly regular games right now. Just started a Shackled City and playing in a Midnight game every other Saturday.

Now I work near Chicago, but live in Mt. Prospect. Two of the games i'm in are in the city. They start hours after I get off work. I usualy hang out in the city until the game starts.

For me, I figure I'll be able to catch up on a LOT of reading during those time periods. I just wonder, will it be enough?

I didn't have it too bad when I was a judge last time because I was the cordinator. I got everything, in some cases, months ahead of everyone else. In addition, I had seen a lot of the products because of my reviews for En World and RPG.net.

Thinking about things though, I know it'll cut into some of my social time, and worse, my painting time that I just got into.

Pretty minor for me. That's assuming the time's I'm in the city waiting for my games to start is sufficient. If not, then something else will have to give.

Other potential judges, what will you be giving up?

Joe-

When we meet up Friday, we can all talk about meeting earlier, I'm off that but I'm not sure about the rest of the lads.

Oh ya, get ready for some good WFRP goodness, I think I'll start everybody out in Altdorf.

Reading and TV time, mostly. A bit of time doing home-improvement projects. Probably some larps and SCA activities. At the moment, much of my spare time is distributed among a number of amusing, but non-constructive, activities. If I consolidated it, who knows what I could accomplish?

Very much an "If I were organized, I'd be dangerous" thing :)

If you pick up any large, inexpensive bags of unpainted lead this weekend at the Games-Plus Auction (starts today!), you might have to step down, again. ;)

Gaming time and social time. I usually cut back gaming severley when the books start pouring in. I don't goto the movies or watch much TV. I usually take a few days off of work to help spread out the reading. I see my family less though this past year I actually saw my family more since my mom got sick. I find its best to reudce everything a little or a lot and not actually cut out anything completely.

I've got three crates filled with unpainted minis. While I love the Games-Plus aution, it's more likely that I'd buy painted minis (normal or plastic D&Ds), or nothing. Storage space in a two bedroom apartment is murder.

I'd be giving up gaming time...probably toning down a bit on SH writing time, but that's iffy. I know I'd definitely have to play WoW a little less, and spend less time watching TV. Luckily, I don't have much of a social life to have to give up. ;)

I don't think I'd have to cut back too much on anything. If I'm selected as a judge, I'll arrange my spring class schedule accordingly to lighten the load. That'll give me plenty of free time for reading and judging. I think I can get it down to classes 2 days a week.

However, if I'm not a judge this year, I'll probably take a fairly heavy courseload in the spring in order to graduate a semester early. I estimate I'd have more free time as an Ennies Judge.

I'd give up evening and weekend reading time; a few of my vacation and personal days; a bit of golf, football, yoga and the like; the occasional date night with my wife; and probably a few gaming sessions.

I'm more capable of juggling my schedule this year than I've been in the past. And with two kids, two dogs, and other responsibilities outside of work and home I'm better than ever at multi-tasking. ;)
