Being a rant about the sorry state of my roleplaying existence

You're in bristol right? Will you be there next weekend? Can you afford time/money to get to Minehead? Get yeself to Gencon UK then!!!! You are bound to find good people to game with!

Fair warning though a lot of the D&D played in the hall will be RPGA sanctioned so "Living" characters only. We will be playing mostly delegate run games (me) I think my group wants to play a lot of Vampire: The Requiem becuase its new but they are also Cthulhu and D&D fans.

We play D&D under another DM who is a good friend of mine. We play a homebrew come Ravenloft game and when we do its more or less all "in character". Not sure if we are getting a D&D game together (If we do I will more than likely be DM though) I will see about whats happening but doubt if by Wednesday I will have access to the net.

Other sources of gaming in your area may be Krackers in Taunton. Not sure if there is a FLGS in Bristol but I put a fair bit of trade over Krackers counter when I am visiting my friend there. Unfortunately I live near London in Hertfordshire so cannot offer you a regular game (like ours is anyway! LOL)

Good luck with you're gaming though man. Forget about that group and move on. I would suggest running a game though, maybe with the two quiet ones in that group (at least they wern't deviants) they seemed to just be following the lead of the boystrous player. I think you could probably mould those two into players. I must admit I am a little quiet when I play with a group I don't know too well. Thats why I prefer getting to know fellow RPers then I play in character for most of the session. Its probably also why I prefer GMing hmmm.

Check out the web, there's bound to be something you can find. That's how I got fixed up with my regular gaming group in exeter, it just takes a few ranks in google-fu. The uni was a mixed experience.
There was a krackers in Exeter as well, they had a fair amount of RPG's, and they know most of the gamers in the area, worth checking out.

I've been in Manchester for half a year. A very good club meets on tuesday evenings at the nag's head pub in deansgate. :)

I think that sounds like one of the worst sessions I have heard about. At the very least, in the top ten.

I think I would have walked out when the GM told me that my deity should be 'The Almighty Bob or something.'

Thanks for the ideas! I didn't even know GenCon UK was going on - I'll go look it up and see if it seems a possibility. Sounds cool, anyway.

It's nice to see how much sympathy, not to mention constructive suggestions, I'm getting off you guys. Just about restores my faith in the gaming public! :)

Hmmm... it all sounds to me like it will invove a lot of planning and booking, most of which it's now to late to do. Also it's too late to reserve tickets, and it would suck to turn up and be told that they're sold out. So I don't know. But at least I'm now aware that the event happens - next year, maybe I'll see some of you guys there.

What tickets are sold out? Sorry man I haven't checked the page in a while :)

You can just turn up and get a ticket for the trade hall, its like £10 or something near that anyway (Site should say). We haven't bought entrance to the arena as we are going to mainly play delegate run games (back at the chalet). We do have a chalet though and if you are planning on staying in Minehead overnight you can still book a chalet through Butlins, just not the Horsemen.

It'd be worth getting over there if you can make it but I know you're probably strapped for cash as it is being at Uni an' all.
