Mike Myers admitted to having played a lot of Dungeons and Dragons when he was younger.

Before you celebrate, he also was pretty derogatory towards gamers. When he heard someone in the crowd shout approval, he mocked him, equating DnD with being a nerd.

I knew I didn't like Mike Myers, now I have a reason.

First of all, who cares. Myers is a comedian. He makes fun of things for a living. It's his job. And he was ON all through the two hour interview.

Secondly, gamers are NOT nerds. They're geeks. S'there.

Thirdly, geeks are cool.

It's unfortunate that the majority of the world doesn't realize that. Unenlightened hacks.

...Mr. Pot, I'd like you to meet Mr. Kettle - last I heard character impersination was a nerd-skill to keep the bullies from pounding you into the dirt.

Plus, as someone else mentioned, gamers are geeks, not nerds - although both rule the world.

Have you ever seen MM in an interview before? The guy who shouted approval was opening himself up big time.

I can see the same thing happening on any subject Meyers brings up.

I just think it's sad that someone has to deride fellow fans of an activity you enjoy, just to save face.

However, the guy in that audience was probably some twink LARPer, so who cares about him? D&D is way cooler than that.

Can you look at your average gamer and say "No, you're wrong, I'm sure this is a very nice fellow who doesn't stink, won't quote Monty Python in every sentence, and has actually kissed a real live girl"? I think we've got reason to be offended, but I think he's got even better reason for saying what he did. Even if he was joking.

Can you look at your average gamer and say "No, you're wrong, I'm sure this is a very nice fellow who doesn't stink, won't quote Monty Python in every sentence, and has actually kissed a real live girl"? Dude! Kissing a real live girl might get makeup on my glasses, wrinkle my "I Grok Spock" t-shirt or even worse, bend my will to buy her flowers and gifts instead of buying a new RPG book. Girls, blech!
