BESM anyone?

Do you think there should be another edition of BESM? I'm surprised that support for it has stopped and I think a new edition would be great so more players could have a chance to play it.

I enjoyed playing 1st edition and 2nd edition. Most people can continue support for their favorite discontinued games through blogs and forming gaming communities. That may form the basis for getting a new edition in the works if there's enough interest.

Good luck and happy gaming!

Unfortunately, it sounds like the mess left behind by Guardians of Order's collapse has left the rights to the material in such a mess than no one is ever likely to be able to professionally revive it. There's a fan community out there, although I don't have the links offhand, and DriveThruRPG still has the PDFs (and 3rd Edition, at least, might eventually make it into Print on Demand format with WW's new initiative).

I really liked 1st edition BESM.

It was fast, fun, adaptable, and a good rules-light game. You could probably condense the rules down into a single double-sided page of paper with small-but-legible font if you tried.

2nd Edition seemed to add too much "stuff" and took away the rules-light fun. I'm not normally one for the rules-light thing, but that game seemed to work for it.

It probably helped that we tended to play more silly action type anime games with BESM, like a campaign that was a blend of Ranma 1/2, Urusei Yatsura, and Tenchi Muyo. Those settings would feel all wrong with a complicated game.

I was aware that Guardians of Order collapsed, but not just how messy/big the failure was.
