Best and worst characters?

Best: Caldour Dalaith, a half-elf bard I played in the old FaerunMUD. He was a cheerful fellow, with a knack for composing stinging poems that mercilessly made fun of those who wronged him.

Worst: Dael Na'Fer, a human female cleric of Cyric, Red Knight and Shar, at different times. That pretty much sums up why I consider her the worst character I ever had...

G'day

The worst character I ever played was my first. The DM insisted that every character had to be chaotic evil because limitations are dumb, and gave every player character eighteens in all attributes.

The best character I ever played was probably the Earl of Rule, a jaded English royalist in a campaign set in France in the 1640s. Or possibly Lord Pausanias of Lakedaemon, a dandyish assassin and political intriguer in a fantasy campaign.

Agback

I'd say my best character ever was probably Silas Wyrmslayer, Paladin of Lathander. Sure, he was terrible in combat due to 2e character generation rules on Paladins (putting your only real high score in Cha left precious little for anything else...:(), but when it came to Dragons, and RED dragons in particular, he was insanely good. And he even had an intelligent Dragon slaying sword. I played him for many years, and he eventually died battling the Ancient Wyrm at the top of Dragon Mountain...

The worst is probably my Half-Orc Barbarian that died three weeks in a row. Big fight - he charges - is cut down. We get a raise dead. Next session - big fight - he charges - is cut down, stabilises at -9 or something. Recovers. Next session - big fight - he dies again. Me: "I'm changing character class for the next guy, OK?"

My best character is my current: Furion Silverfire, a flamboyant cleric of corellon. Efficient in combat and lots of fun to roleplay too; excellent for the Banewarrens we're playing now. Much of his adventuring fortunes is spent on extravagant lifestyle: A grand house in a well-to-do neighbourhood, living expenses, jewelry (2000 gp custom made holy symbol, 1000 gp (each) platinum bracers.. etc.). . fun stuff! ;)

Worst character I don't have in 3e, since the cleric is my first. Been mostly DMing. :(

I think the best character I have played is Michelle Slinn head of Cell 9 in a Millenium's End Play-by-Email. After about a year of play she is still going strong.

Although another character I have fallen in love with is Glynn Wyrmsbreath a bard who has her mind twisted to that of a sadistic necromancer. She was the token cute character turned arch nemsis of the rest of the character group (due to their own actions I might add). Sadly the GM demanded to reset the campaign since he didn't like the attention hog Glynn.

The worst character I have played was I think Synthia Rasthanas, a murdering, sadistic creature. A chosen of the Snake God, and would not hesitate to cannibalize another character. It was sort of like playing American Psycho in Dark Sun. Good character - wrong environment.

Or then the fairy whose only purpose during the Plane Scape campaign was getting into the bed of all the characters. Luckily I never got to play her. Although high romance and charm spells might have caused interesting roleplaying.

My favorite was Joneleth Irenicus my Elven wizard who focused heavily on making magic items. He could fight from a range with his bow if he needed to and was a decent spell slinger. I had plans on getting him up in levels and retiring him to become something like the Magic shop guy in one of the Freeport Suplementals.

My least favorite was Joneleth Irenicus. After another player switched to wizard he decided that anything I could do he could do better. I wasn't wanting to compete but it seemed as he still took plesure in rubbing the fact in my face. He also would freely throw fireballs around and didn't give much thought to who was in his way. He never hit me but if he did my character would have killed his.

My worst: Svirfneblin Monk/Illusionist. I rolled awesome with him, lowest was a 14. But with an ECL of +3, he didn't get a +1 BAB until his 3nd level, when he was an ECL 6. His AC was sky high, with a 20 in Dex and Wisdome, and with mage armor, his AC was 29. Then throw in cats grace and owls wisdom, his AC was even higher. But HE COULDN'T HIT ANYTHING. He rarely got hit. I took him to 3rd (or 4th illusionist) and 1st monk, but his BAB was 1 for a ECL 7 charecter... :o He ended up rolling a 1 on a save vs Petrification.

2 Best, one for power gaming, and one for story, in terms of playing

My best for power gaming: This guy was just fun to play, he was based on 'Tim' from Quest for the Holy Grail, and was named Tim. I took him to 9th level He was a 5 evocer/4 elemental savant. I rolled decent, and had an 18. He was all about having that high DC for his evocation (fire) spells. His fireball DC was 25 Aside a couple Magic Missle and Lesser Acid orb, all of his spells where fire based spells. He really shined durring a troll fight and vs some mummy's.

Story: I never got to play him, but if I am ever in a SW game again, I'll have to make this guy. My major from school was Economics, so I made a Economist. He was basically a business man, was an economist for one of the Imperial manufacturers, and then found out some activities of the Empire and his company he didn't agree with it, so he quit his job and bought a jalopy transport ship. He also like to gamble, but was REALLY bad at it, and had just lost his ship. Thats where the campaign was going to begin, but it never happened

Worst: The Human Wizard now known only as "Master Baldy." Was in an evil campaign -- had horrible megalomania, and through an unfortunate accident had all of his body hair removed. He insisted obidience from the other players.
Was killed within his first session by the rogue. :p

Best: S'nath, Human Wizard/Corroder (a PrC I found on the Wizards forum... by Isida Kep'Tuaki, or some-such): A cowardly, acid specialist wizard. Could deal rather awe inspiring amounts of damage with his spells, but after contributing to a fight would take a bit of time to make sure his hide was safe. If the fight was still occuring, he would cast lower-damage spells so that he wouldn't draw attention away from the fighter. Although I hadn't started reading Terry Pratchett at the time, he was similar in morals and actions to Rincewind. A blast to play. He was retired in wealth.

Both best and worst are 2ed, since I've mostly DMed in 3ed games.

Worst: I rolled great and got 2 18s. I made an half-elf cleric/wizard called SpellBlaster. Quite lame....

My best was called Piécette Tape-machin, which roughly traslate as Penny (coin) Thing-Basher. He was a thief, and a Kender, in a VERY hack-and-slash type of game. He was tremendous with thrown daggers and could steal almost anything just by looking at it. But we constantly ran into giants and one it was ennough to take me down. I spent day recoverig and beingcarried by the others...
The best part was that he was searching for himself; he began thinking of himself as a noble warrior, then had a "revelation" and became a priest of He-Who-Grants-Powers, and finished as a mighty wizard, altough he purely was a thief class-wise. He was a blast to play!
