Mutants and Masterminds 2E - Ok, I know it came out last year but I just bought it. Really impressed, really loved it. Some of the rules changes made me go "Huh? What was wrong with the old way?" but overall it's so smooth and streamlined.

My friends and I have considered switching to 2e so I took some gift cards to my local Barnes and Noble, a major book chain, only to find that they do not have MM2e in their system. They have the GM screen, Gidget's Gadgets for 1e, and one other supplement in their system, but not the MM2e core book itself.

That's weird. I've seen M&M in my local B&N.

As much as I like fantasy, sci-fi is my true love. I bought Dawning Star late last year and the follow up product, Helios Rising, in August. I cannot say enough good things about those products.

Now, I'm not exactly a dimwit, but really--I was struggling through the char gen rules alone. Other parts of the book had me utterly confused-icated. I'm the DM, so I figure if I can't create characters and understand the rules, I'm hopeless and useless as a DM for my players (half of whom have never played any kind of D&D before).

I want so much to like--and use!--the rules, but I was intimidated away from running the game due to the level of complexity.

(There will be those who take advantage of my honesty in admitting I didn't "get it" and mock me, but...well, there you have it.)

You obviously don't get it.

*mock mock*

That good enough?

Ok, I went down to the local B&N and actually talked to the person behind the customer service desk face to face rather than over the phone. It took her about ten minutes of searching on the computer to locate the book and I had to actually peer over the desk at the computer screen to help her locate it. However, unlike the guy on the phone, she actually found it and could order it for me.

Word of advice from a part-time B&N bookseller:

If you're asking for something obscure (and nearly any RPG product not by WotC or WW qualifies), have the ISBN on hand if at all possible. It'll make things a lot easier for all concerned.
