So in this poll I'm asking which base (or core) class from the Complete books, the Mini's Handbook, or Eberron you like best.

I'm excluding Oriental classes, Dragonlance classes, and Psionics, though I am including the Artifacer FWIW.

1/ Warlock: very original, fits a niche nicely.

2/ Scout: Almost a better WilderNinja than the Ranger. Certainly has a place.

3/ Spellthief: A great class for experienced meta-gamers, very original.

Well, the psychic warrior, psion and spirit shaman would be on the top of my list, with a special nod to the OA samurai, but since you left them off, i'd have to go with scout, warlock and artificer, in that order.

Swashbuckler feels like a more natural fit to the permanent line-up than any "new" class before or since, going all the way back to the classes in the 1E "Unearthed Arcana."

Mystic and Noble from the Dragonlance Campaign Setting are missing, and the four Psionic Core classes are missing. Since favorite base classes from outside the core are Noble, Mystic and Psion, but of the classes listed I'll go with Favored Soul. It fills a niche not filled by the core 11 (Spontaneous divine caster), but I prefer Mystic since Favored Soul has the weird sprouting-wings thing at higher level and I really prefer the flavor of Mystic to Favored Soul (person who gains divine spellcasting through meditation and introspection as opposed to just waking up one day and finding your god has given you a pile of neato powers).

Isn't the Spirit Shaman missing?
I thought that was an Oriental class originally, but I might be wrong. In any case, I decided I couldn't include absolute every class printed in a wotC product.

True, but I do think you should have at least included all 12 from the "Complete" series, Oriental or not, since those are the largest source of new base classes outside the core books and Psionics.

There's no way to get an accurate result now. All you're going to get is "What do people like best out of the random sampling I chose?"

Since I can't pick more than one, warlock. Best flavor of all of 'em- it's an alt caster done right. And the fact that I played one for about four months has nothing to do with the vote at all, oh no. ;)
Other than that, I like ninja, scout, swashbuckler and artificer the best.

Demiurge out.
