Best Cthulhu adventures ever?

In Media Res (Pagan Publishing) - very short, and fairly brutal, the PCs start with 0 San....
Grace Under Pressure (Pagan Publishing) - another one session game, the PCs in a sub that touches down about a click from Rleyh.... I have run it twice, both times amazed that there were no fatalities in the party. :)

I have played through most of the large campaigns. I have to say that the "classics" are mostly showing their age. "Horror on the Orient Express" is a literal railroad, and while "Masks" is great - the vibe is more pulp than horror.

"Tatters of the King" was a complete revelation for me. I would honestly say that going through that would be my favourite player experience. There is not much violence and direct encounters with the mythos take a long time to come - but the tension builds wonderfully, the villains are brilliantly rounded (sympathetic even - we had an intra-party fight over whether to stop the main "baddy") and the whole thing has a a beautifully consistent and real feel to it.

I would also recommend Pagan Publishings "Reign of Shadows". It is a bit more pulp, but it was a joy to GM. The book is filled with fantastic advice for GMs, lots of options for players and genuinely scary moments. I had one player tell me that he had never been as scared as he was in one session I ran. Which has to be the best compliment I ever received as a GM!

The Auld Grump hit all of my Pagan highlights: both In Medias Res and Grace Under Pressure are among my favorite one-shot adventures for any system. Masks... and Walker in the Wastes remain among my favorite campaign adventures for any system. They're just that great! :D

I have to mention Tatters of the King.

For one thing, it avoids sending PC's into deathtraps, or just into exotic locales for the point of them being exotic. It also keeps with the whole horror thing, the dreamlike feel, and the rest.

Half my players loved it. The other half wanted to shoot some stuff up. It is 'slow' like that in terms of violence or easy to work out stuff. With a good bunch of players willing to be there for horror that isn't (just) giant monsters coming at you, its great.

In a fit of insanity I sold it ages ago when I moved countries. I'd love to get it again.
