Best fantasy world creation supplement

For me, TSR's World Builder's Guidebook has never been supplanted.

(I also love the previously mentioned Toolbox, but don't really see it in the same category.)

And then there's Ray Winninger's misleadingly titled "Dungeoncraft" series of articles from "Dragon" on campaign design, which is also excellent and, best of all, available for free here.

Thanks so much for that link!

Can't help you here, but I can say that the Worldbuilder's Guidebook is, as others have said, the best product out there. Absolutely amazing piece.

I can think of only two:

A Magical Society: Ecology & Culture by Expeditious Retreat Press
World Builder's Guidebook by TSR (AD&D 2ed)

Anything else? What has been the most useful to you? And why didn't Wizards release a comprehensive world creation supplement for 3ed? (Or did they?).
And frankly, those two are all you need.

I  my World Builder's Guidebook.

You probably won't be able to get a copy since it's long out of print but if you happen to find it, I recommend 'ARIA Worlds'. I found it to be pretty inspirational.

It uses a very straightforward and logical approach to worldbuilding using worksheets. This approach always results in a believable setting, though it's a bit more difficult to use if the world is supposed to be over-the-top fantasy. It's definitely better suited to model worlds close to our own.
