Best game stores of Boston?

Compleat Strategist is a nice enough shop, though more geared toward historicals and war gaming (as I recall). The guys there were super nice the couple of times I went in.

The reason I didn't go more was because I was always over at Pandy. I live in CT now, and *still* go to Pandemonium semi-regularly when we're up in the Boston area. They rock.

You know, I've never been to the Compleat Strategist... I think it's at least partially because of the name. Just typing it made the hair on the back of my neck stand on end.

Pandemonium is in Central Square now? I haven't gone there in ages and wasn't aware they moved from Harvard Square.

Central square isn't too far from where I work, cool.

All of the above recommendations are good, including the one for Battleground for those of us on the South Shore. Of the urban stores, I too go to Pandemonium most often, but that is mostly because its location is most convenient for me since it's on the Red Line (and closer in than Your Move Games). In my opinion, the selection of games is actually better these days at the Compleat Strategist (and yes I hate the spelling of the name too). They used to have problems with ornery staff, but the guy who's been working there almost every time I've been in there the past few years is great. I haven't been to either Your Move Games or Danger Planet that often since I've been in the burbs, but from the few times I have, I would have to say that both were a lot better a few years back (in particular, YMG had a a way better selection in the old location, which was larger, though it suffered from not having a storefront on street level).

Yes it's on the side street right between 7-11 and the post office. New location is larger, with books (novels etc) and cards upstairs, gaming books, boardgames, miniatures, and gaming space downstairs. They have later hours now too.
