Best movies of 2005 . . . so far

Sin City, then Mr. and Mrs. Smith, then Batman Begins, and finally RotS.

Sin City was just great, and I saw it while Binghamton was flooding, no less.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith was the perfect summer film - lots of decent action, a fairly light story that's both serious and comedic, and a leading lady who is as strong as the leading man.

Batman Begins I put below M&MS because I felt the action was very poorly edited, and Katie Holmes was passable, which is to say nothing special.

RotS was good, but simply not good enough to make it to the top three.

A lot of movies I missed this year so far because my schedule has been hectic, but luckily that's starting to alleviate itself, so I need to catch up.

No mention yet of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy?

I really havne't seen that many movies so far this year. I don't think Kingdom of Heaven is good enough to be on a 'best of' shortlist. Revenge of the Sith certainly wasn't.

I've heard good things about Batman begins. I'm looking forward to seeing it finally.

Revenge of the Sith is the only movie I've seen this year. Too busy for other movies.

I thought Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda and Chewbacca and R2D2 were great in RotS. The rest of RotS left something to be desired.

Is it sad that I hadn't seen a single movie on anyone's list until post #13?

I've seen my two must sees for the year already.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - 8. Just a fun little romp for a fan.
Serenity - 9. Absolutely spectacular. The first movie I have ever actually wanted to go to the first 'real' showing for.

Thinking of what else I saw this year, I have to reply 'nothing spectacular'. Bride & Prejudice was fun, but cringeworthy in parts and by no means great. That's really the only other theatrical release I've seen this year so far.I want to see Howl's Moving Castle, but will wait for the DVD cause I just prefer subtitles. I have lots of people sayng I must see Batman. I'll get to it eventually.

1. Mr & Mrs Smith
2. Batman Begins
3. Star Wars - RotS
4. Sin City / War of the World
5. The Hitchhiker’s Guide
6. The Pacifier
7. Sahara
8. Constantine
9. Kingdom of Heaven

Mr & Mrs Smith still tops my list for 2005, Batman just behind, then Star Wars, Sin City and WotW in a tie. Looking back on it and thinking about it the Pacifier MAY move up. I do think the longer I think on it WotW will fall faster down my list (when rated agains the list).

simply? none.

unless you wanna count Serenity which isnt out yet.

besides Serenity I've seen constantine, pooh's heffalump movie, sin city, hitchhikers, star wars, batman, war of the worlds.
None of the others qualifies as an 8 or higher.

I seem to recall doing this already, but anyway.

  1. SW Ep3 RotS
  2. Serenity
  3. Batman Begins
  4. Constantine
  5. Sin City

I know I've seen other things, but other than Kung-fu Hustle I don't remeber what, and if I can't remember they clearly aren't list worthy.

1. Revenge of the Sith

*mile wide gap*

2. Cinderella Man
3. War of the Worlds
4. Batman Begins

The only other movies I've seen at the theater this year were Madagascar and Kingdom of Heaven. The former was okay but Kingdom of Heaven was probably the worst "epic" movie I've ever seen. Just terrible.

Haven't seen: Howl's Moving Castle

Pets & Sidekicks
