Best Place to Build a Fake 1920's Town?

Not like I'm not a bit biased here myself - but you could try Northeast Ohio around Cleveland. Cleveland itself fills five out of the six requirements. I'm honestly not sure what kind of military presence there was in Ohio during the 1920's or 30's, but I'd guess that at the very least Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton was getting started up, and then there's Camp Perry about 75 miles from Cleveland.

Oh, and then there's the Torso Murders. Doesn't get more Cthulhu than that.

The best place to build a fake town is right after the fake toll booth in the middle of the desert. At least that's what I learned from Mel Brooks.
HIGH-larious!

I'd have thought, though, with your screen name here that you'd suggest somewhere like Tacoma.

Miltary base? Check!

Large body of water? Check! (Not just the Pacific Ocean, but waterways that border Canada as well.)

Smallish town? Check!

Woodlands? Check! (Not just in Washington, but also Canada.)

Major city nearby? Check!

Schools nearby? Check!

Bonuses: Lots of Native Americans, which means you could tie in their legends into the Cthulhuesqe stuff...
