Here's some high quality options for historical OR magic rare low fantasy medieval gaming:

1) Lionheart from Columbia Games. This is a rules generic sourcebook to roleplay in medieval England. $29.99 http://www.columbiagames.com/cgi-bin/query/cfg/zoom.cfg?product_id=7001

2) HarnWorld from Columbia Games (also see the Harn Manor, Chybisa and Kaldor supplements). HarnWorld is the most authentic "dark ages/medieval" experience you'll get in a magic rare low fantasy setting, right down to the last nitty-gritty detail. It's rules generic, so you can play with D&D/d20/OGL or the grim-n-gritty HarnMaster RPG. You can't get any more "old skool" than this classic setting that's still chugging away after 20 years +! $29.99

3) The upcoming A Game of Thrones RPG from Guardians of Order/White Wolf (Sword & Sorcery). It's out in late August (the deluxe $99.95 dual statted d20/TriStat edition; otherwise, you'll have to wait for the $49.95 standard d20 only edition in October). If you've read the A Song of Ice and Fire novels from George R. R. Martin, you know what I'm talking about. The setting is a magic rare low fantasy version of England during the War of the Roses, concentrating on sinister politics and open warfare between rival noble houses.

4) Aquilonia from Mongoose (for their Conan OGL RPG). Aquilonia is a very medieval nation. The Conan RPG is great (the rules and the magic rare low fantasy setting, which is loosely based on medieval Europe). $34.95

If you can find copies, Dragon #257 contains a campaign setting for the period in England by Ian Malcomson, and Dragon #263 has the same author's treatment of the Anglo-Saxon pantheon...

Dragon #290 gave us Red Sails, concerning the Dark Ages in Eastern Europe/ Russia, with adventure support in Dungeon #89.

wasn't there going to be a D20 game called earth 1060 or something like that. Anyone know what happened to it

Also is Legends: Dark Ages going to be picked up under white wolf's Line like Excalaber was.

Legends of Excalibur and Relics and Rituals: Excalibur are books that have no relation to one another :)

Legends of Excalibur took the d20 rules and changed them to suit Arthurian gaming and was produced by RPGObjects.

Relics and Rituals: Excalibur gave you information for Arthurian flavored D&D and was produced by White Wolf/Sword and Sorcery.

I realize there is confusion because the books have similar titles, the same subject and came out about the same time but they are radically different approaches made by two different companies.
